Meet Our Director
Matthew Elsey is an avid choral musician from Marietta, Georgia. Although his main focus is music education, he is currently taking a hiatus from teaching to pursue a master’s degree in choral conducting at the University of Georgia. He is one of three master’s students to receive a graduate assistantship in the choral department, along with a full tuition waiver during his studies. He also received his bachelor’s degree in music education from UGA. Before beginning his graduate studies, he served for three years as the choral director at West Hall High School in Oakwood, GA. During his time at WHHS, he worked to revitalize the program through recruitment, class restructuring, and offering additional music courses such as class piano and guitar. Through his leadership, chorus students at WHHS received superior ratings at LGPE, attended GMEA All-State Chorus, and grew into more passionate musicians. After his graduate program, he plans to return to secondary choral education.
Voices of North Georgia honors Bruce Nunley, Director Emeritus, who guided the choir from 1996 – 2024 and remains a cherished member of our musical family.
