What to Expect
Our members recognize the effort necessary to run a successful organization. This is why each member joins a committee of their choosing. From stage setup, hospitality, fundraising, and more, our members are involved in each aspect that creates a successful concert season.
Dues: Membership dues are $100 for the year, payable at the first rehearsal or through our membership dues portal here.
Auditions
Voices of North Georgia welcomes new members by auditioning at the beginning and mid-point of each season. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Caroline Newbern, Membership Chair, at voicesofnorthgeorgia@gmail.com
A review of singing skills by the conductor is required for all new members. Caroline will be happy to speak with you about VNG and answer any questions you might have about the audition.
Hospitality
We occasionally provide snacks after practice with a short time to socialize. A sign-up sheet is passed periodically, so feel free to test your latest recipes on us! The hospitality committee also provides wonderful receptions following the first of our two Holiday performances.
Rehearsals
The choir rehearses on Thursday nights from 6:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M. at First Baptist Church, 751 Green Street, NW, Gainesville, GA 30501. Please plan to arrive at least five minutes before practice. We ask that members miss no more than two rehearsals per concert season. In the event of an absence, please call your section leader before rehearsal. Members are expected to spend time outside of rehearsal learning and practicing their music to facilitate our rehearsals.
Concert Dress
Voices of North Georgia performs all concerts in black, except for some community performances (festivals, events, etc.).
Advertisements
Each year, during August and September, VNG members sell advertisements to businesses to sponsor us. This brings in almost half of our budget. We ask each member to bring in at least three sponsors during this campaign. We also have a donation option that can be located here.
Music
Please turn in your music to the librarian after each concert. All music needs to be in a black choral folder for all performances.
